Story Summary
Ted Kord faces a crisis in this issue. His estranged father Thomas suddenly returns and ousts Ted from his own company Kord, Inc. At the same time, Beetle’s old enemy Carapax (a revived indestructible robot) returns and lays waste to Beetle’s secret base and much of Kord Industries. In a final gambit, Blue Beetle lures Carapax aboard his flying airship (“the Bug”) and pilots it out over Lake Michigan, then bails out as the Bug self-destructs, obliterating the robotrandom-happenstance.blogspot.com. The issue ends with Ted rejecting both his father’s takeover and his girlfriend Melody’s support as he walks away from the ruins of his business – setting the stage for his financially strained future.
